Protectt.ai Labs Private Limited has taken a majority stake in AIShield, an AI security platform incubated at Bosch Global Software Technologies, as it expands its business beyond mobile application security. AIShield will operate as an independent company, AI Shield Private Limited (AISW), under Protectt.ai. The transaction involves a primary issuance of shares and a secondary purchase from existing investors, although the financial terms have not been disclosed.

The investment brings together Protectt.ai’s customer relationships across regulated industries and AIShield’s technology for securing artificial intelligence systems. Protectt.ai already serves banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), insurers, fintechs and government platforms, while AIShield brings specialized engineering capabilities and an existing customer base in Europe and the Middle East. For Protectt.ai, the deal offers a way to expand its AI security business through an established platform rather than developing every capability internally. AIShield, meanwhile, gains financial backing and a potential route to a wider customer base.

AIShield Moves Beyond Its Incubation Phase

AIShield was developed to address security risks associated with the adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Its platform covers AI security assessments, red teaming, runtime protection and safety guardrails, helping organizations identify weaknesses and protect AI applications during operation. The company also addresses risks such as prompt injection, in which malicious instructions can influence an AI system’s behavior.

According to the announcement, AIShield has more than 40 patent filings, including 11 granted patent families. Its transition into an independent company gives it a dedicated structure for research, product development and market expansion, with Protectt.ai providing the investment to support those efforts. The next stage will involve taking its existing capabilities to more customers and developing products that can be deployed across different enterprise environments.

Protectt.ai’s existing relationships could help AIShield reach customers in sectors where security and governance requirements influence technology decisions. Banks and insurers, in particular, must consider how new systems handle sensitive information and interact with existing infrastructure. While the partnership creates an opportunity to introduce AI security capabilities through established customer relationships, adoption will depend on how well the products address specific business needs and fit into existing security operations.

“AI is moving from pilots into production across banking and regulated enterprises, and the security stack has to evolve with it. AIShield brings a proven platform, a strong engineering team and a deep patent portfolio. Together, Protectt.ai and Bosch aim to build India's first full-stack AI security platform, covering AI for Security, Security for AI and Sovereign AI Security, so enterprises can adopt AI confidently with the resilience and the control it demands. We are pleased to have Bosch alongside us as a strategic partner,” said Manish Mimani, founder and CEO of Protectt.ai

Expanding Into Sovereign AI Security

Beyond AI application protection, Protectt.ai plans to develop sovereign AI security capabilities, focusing on organizations’ control over where their AI systems, data and workloads reside and how they are governed. These considerations can be important for businesses operating under regulatory requirements, although the announcement does not specify the products or deployment models planned for this part of the business.

Backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Protectt.ai says it protects more than 900 million devices, secures over 10 billion sessions a month and has prevented more than 8 billion threats. Its operations span India, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Southeast Asia and the United States. AIShield adds its customer base in Europe and the Middle East, giving the combined business an opportunity to broaden its reach.

“For investors, this is an encouraging sign of ecosystem maturity. It demonstrates that Indian startups can create sufficient scale, credibility and market leadership to become preferred partners for global technology assets. We expect to see more such transactions as Indian companies expand their global footprint and compete in category-defining markets." Said Vishal Gupta, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners

The investment gives Protectt.ai a direct path to expanding its AI security capabilities, while AIShield gains an independent structure and financial backing for its next phase. Its longer-term value will depend on product development, customer adoption and the companies’ ability to turn their complementary capabilities into a commercially successful offering.
